How to Find Total Links Into Your Blog

Have you ever wondered how many links you have into your blog?  If you monitor your stats, your links in to your blog are equally as important as many other statistics.  Your links in affect your Google Pagerank; the more links to your blog from other places on the web, the better your rank is.  I won't tell you how to get links to your blog, at least not in this tutorial, but I will tell you where to find your links in for Blogger.

1.  Go to your design screen. At the top right, click on "My Account", as you see in the picture below.

2.  As you see in the picture below, you will see your Google Accounts screen.  Locate and click the "Webmaster Tools", as circled in the picture.

3.  You'll arrive at the Webmaster Tools screen.  If you haven't already added a site, you will need to do this first.  After adding, you will need to wait until the next crawl (could be a day or up to a couple weeks) before seeing any data.  This is because Google needs time to scan the web and locate where you place on the web, as well as which blogs and sites link to your blog.  If you've already done this or you have waited awhile already, click the site you would like to know your links in for.

4.  In my case, I clicked the Blogger www.thislilpiglet.net link. You will arrive at another screen with a lot of details about your blog.  On the left sidebar you will want to click on "Your Site on the Web" to expand the menu and then click on "Links to Your Site".

5.  You will now see a list of the who links to you the most, your most linked content, popular keywords in relation to your blog and most importantly your "Total Links" in, as I have circled in the picture.  This may be a statistic you might want to include in your media kit.

If you liked this tutorial, Keep checking back.  I will be posting more tutorials and details of other smart ways to use Webmaster Tools.

It's "Webmaster Tools", email a screen shot of your Google options to me at stacey(at)thislilpiglet(dot)net It's hard to know without seeing what you are seeing.

Karen, I'm not sure you have this option in a blogger hosted blog; you my have to have a self-hosted blog. Try following the steps above by going to your dashboard the account, if you don't see it there you might be out of luck...I can't remember back before I was self-hosted but you should have all these tools available to you too.

Perfect timing, because I was JUST wondering about this today. I was checking out http://www.websiterankingtool.net/ and it shows I have ZERO Google Backlinks, and ZERO Google Indexed pages... yet when I am looking here under Webmaster tools it shows TONS of incoming links (over 11,000 total). I am baffled.

I also received the same results. I talked to one of their support people using "Live Chat" and they told me that it was a quirk with Google and to trust Google Webmaster Tools over their results. Kinda weird if you're trying to sell a service but at least they were honest. They also gave me this link to read about it http://www.backlinkbuild.com/blog/how-to-check-backlinks-in-google-check-google-backlinks/

SOooo, in other words 11,000 total = woohoo! You can also see where you are getting the most links in from, which keywords are finding most often in searches...so many cool things you can find out so have fun with it. :)

Oh another way to check is to go to www.google.com then in the search box type link:yoursite.com (no www. and obviously replace yoursite.com with your website name) but I tried this and the results were not even close. I would stick with webmaster tools; it's very detailed and pulls results from more places giving you a more accurate number of links in.

Oh awesome. Thanks so much for the response, I was sort of panicking over this. I`m so glad to know I can reply on the numbers from webmaster tools.
